We are having our first family visit with our 6 and 2 yr old in Feb for a week. My wife has to work and she only has 3 days to go to the parks. What parks should we visit and do I dare take the kids on my own? Other non-park ideas if I wimp out?

    Hi Craig!

A first family trip!  How exciting!

With a 6 year old and a 2 year old, I recommend visiting the Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios.  They are the best parks for very young guests in my opinion.  I suggest you first visit the Magic Kingdom as it is the crown jewel of the Walt Disney World Resort.  If you still have time after visiting the Magic Kingdom and the Studios, then I recommend also visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Over the years, I've taken my children, ages 5 and 10, to the parks many times on my own while other family members did something else, such as shopping in Downtown Disney or resting at the resort.  Walt Disney World is a great place to be with young children.  I wouldn't worry if i was you.

Besides visiting the theme parks, my experience is young children like to spend a lot of time at the pools at the resorts.  All of the pools are very nice at Walt Disney World; some of them, especially at the Deluxe Resorts, are outstanding.  The pool at Disney's Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts is absolutely amazing; my kids could spend an entire vacation at that pool, called Stormalong Bay!  It has a sand bottom pool and a beach play area for young guests to enjoy; you can build sand castles in the middle of the kids play area!

My children also enjoy visiting Downtown Disney.  They love to look in the World of Disney, the largest Disney character store in the world.  They also love Once Upon a Toy and playing with the free bricks at the LEGO Imagination Center.

    Have a magical vacation!
