We are having a family reunion of 34 in August. While we are not planning to all dine at the same restaurant each night, we are trying to coordinate our dining so small groups can eat together. What's the best way to make reservations for a large group?

Hi Janine!  I too planned many of our family reunions to Walt Disney World over the years. Dining is always the issue as to how to keep everyone together and happy. I'm glad to hear you are not trying to always be at the same restaurant but instead letting smaller groups dine together at different times. This makes more sense and is actually more fun in the long run.

When you know the number of people who will be dining together you can head to the website to see if you are able to do this on line. There is a spot usually to plug in 15+ for the number of spots needed. You can also do this on line by calling the dining number direct. 407-939-3463. Know the dates, number of guests, and have some thoughts as to the restaurant of choice before you call. Dining with larger numbers can be easier if you don't mind eating early or late versus during the popular lunch and dinner times.

You might enjoy an idea we always used when eating together on our vacations. I carried around small cardboard name tags of each family member. Once we were checked in and knew our table configurations we then drew names of who would be seated together. The only exception would be the babies would always stay with the parents but even children could be with others. It is a great way to have everyone get to know each other and enjoy stories of the day or of the past.
