Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Renee!
I'm so pleased to hear you have included dinner at
Chef Mickey's in your vacation plans. It is a classic Walt Disney World Resort experience to dine with the Fab Five on the Grand Canyon Concourse while the iconic monorails glide by overhead. Don't forget to take your camera and your autograph book.
I am a huge fan of ice cream for dessert, and
Ample Hills Creamery at Disney's Boardwalk Inn is worth the trip. They have the most imaginative (and delicious!) flavors. Just across Crescent Lake from Ample Hills Creamery is
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. If you're in the mood for a sundae, that's where you want to go. It is situated between Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.
Both of these ice cream shops are roughly seven miles from Chef Mickey's. It would be a quick drive from Disney's Contemporary Resort to either Disney's Boardwalk Inn or Disney's Yacht Club. If you are relying on complimentary Disney transportation, walk or take the monorail from Disney's Contemporary Resort to the bus stop in front of Magic Kingdom Park. Then board a bus to the resort that houses the ice cream shop you prefer.
Do keep in mind, though, that soft serve ice cream is among the desserts offered at Chef Mickey's so you may want to stop by Ample Hills Creamery or Beaches & Cream Soda Shop some other day. Either would be a great stop on a day that you are visiting either Disney's Hollywood Studios or Epcot as both are within walking distance from these theme parks.
Enjoy your meal at Chef Mickey's and please have some ice cream for me!
Jill
