We are having a very difficult time finding availability at restaurants, is it likely there will be cancellations? Where is the best place to be on New Year's Eve?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Wilma!

What a magical holiday you are going to have at the Walt Disney World Resort! Ringing in 2020 at The Most Magical Place on Earth sounds just perfect to me, and I know you are going to have a wonderful time.

I visited the Walt Disney World Resort over Thanksgiving, and we decided on Thanksgiving day that we wanted to eat a good, old-fashioned turkey dinner. There was actually a lot of availability on the day-of – what happens is that many Guests change their plans once they arrive and start having fun in the theme parks. The key is to keep checking, and check at lots of different times. I like to use the My Disney Experience mobile app so that I can check for dining on-the-go. Also, be flexible: even if the Table Service restaurant doesn’t offer a special New Year’s meal, you’ll still find delicious menu items and a great cocktail.

You’ll find a listing of New Year’s activities, including dining and activities, on the New Year’s Eve at the Walt Disney World Resort web page. Many will likely be booked, but it’s worth checking.

As for recommendations, any of the Signature dining locations would love lovely for a special New Year’s meal. Narcoosee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is out on the water of Seven Seas Lagoon and has fireworks views; California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort also offers fine dining and lovely views. Topolino’s Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera at Disney’s Riviera Resort and Toledo – Tapas, Steak and Seafood at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort are newer locations with great views.

If you’re looking for a fun and memorable meal, Whispering Canyon Café or a character dining experience are great options. Whispering Canyon Café has a wild-west vibe, and it’s BBQ fare as opposed to fine dining, but it’s a really fun time. There are also lots of great restaurants in Disney Springs: Raglan Road and The Edison both have fantastic menus and entertainment, and Paddlefish is my favorite fine dining experience there.

Wilma, I recommend reading the Disney Parks Blog for the latest news as you count down to your visit. They’ll share news about holiday and New Year’s experiences, along with helpful planning tips.

I’m sending pixie dust that you find the perfect dining experience, and I’m wishing you the very best in the new year!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
