Ashley from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

We are having brunch at storytellers / do some shopping afterwards in downtown Disney. I see we are allowed to self-park /valet at Grand Californian as guests of the restaurant, but only for 3 hours with validation? What if we go over the time?

    Welcome, Ashley!

We're so happy to have you here at planDisney! It sounds like you have a practically perfect Disneyland day planned with a brunch at Storytellers Cafe and shopping at Downtown Disney. You are going to love mixing and mingling with Mickey and crew while you dine on a delicious buffet. I enjoyed dinner at Storytellers not too long ago, and I have to say it was one of my favorite character experiences!

When it comes to parking, you are correct! Your reservation comes complete with 3 hours of complimentary parking, either valet or self-park. Once you've hit the 3-hour mark, the daily standard rates would apply, which are currently:

    • Self-parking: $45 per vehicle for the first hour + $10 each additional hour up to a maximum of $85.
    • Valet parking: $75 per vehicle for the first hour + $10 each additional hour up to a maximum of $145.
This pricing is, of course, subject to change, but good to consider as it may inform whether you valet or self-park even for your complimentary hours. The alternative is to park in the Downtown Disney District Parking at the Simba Lot, just off Disneyland Drive near the Pixar Place Hotel. I recommend reading through the pricing, as it can vary, and there are validations offered with certain purchases. When you pull up the Parking page of the website, scroll down to "Downtown Disney District Parking" to see all of the information. You could opt to move your car after your meal or once you get close to the 3-hour mark from the Grand Californian to the Simba Lot.

Ashley, I hope this helps you plan your day without any parking surprises! While I'm sure your brunch will fill you up to power you through your shopping, you may want to Mobile Order a sweet treat from Wonderful World of Sweets for the road! I love to grab a seasonal offering to take home with me, and there are so many sweet options currently on the menu! You can't go wrong with the classic Churro Toffee Square or the limited-time Mickey Apple Pie Caramel Apple!

If you have any more questions or just want to chat about all things Disneyland, we are always here for you at planDisney.

    Magic awaits!
