We haven't been to WDW for over 30 years, but will be bringing our granddaughter in June and will be staying at Shades of Green resort. Can we use the swimming pools at other resorts, such as the nearby Polynesian Resort, like we did years ago?

Unfortunately not, Carolyn.  Disney's resort pools are reserved exclusively for the use of that resort's guests.  Even if you were staying at Disney's Polynesian Resort, it would not be permissible for you to use the pool at Disney's Grand Floridian, for example.  As a guest of Shades of Green, you are entitled to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours, but pool hopping is a big no-no.  Enjoy your trip!
