Ahoy Janelle - welcome to planDisney!
Thanks for swimming by with another question for our crew of panelists. We love helping Guests just like you plan for magical Disney adventures, both on land and sea!
The
brand-new Disney Wish is literally a wish come true. This new crown jewel of the Disney Cruise Line fleet takes everything you love about the other ships and dials up the magic! The good news is that it sounds like you've sailed with Disney Cruise Line before, and those experiences have prepared you to take advantage of everything the Wish has to offer. While there are amazing new dining, experience, and entertainment options, and the amenities and finishes are top-notch, not much has changed when it comes to the basics of enjoying a Disney Cruise Line ship, and thus you don't really need to prepare any differently.
For example, you'll be able to experience the unique rotational dining that Disney Cruise Line is known for, except on the Wish you'll have three brand-new dining experiences. They are indeed experiences, and I don't recommend skipping any of them! This can be tough
on a 3-night sailing if you'd also like to experience the adult-exclusive restaurants. If you've had brunch at Palo on another ship,
Palo Steakhouse on the Wish has a similar menu, so you might consider brunch or the Dessert Experience at
Enchanté - a restaurant and experience exclusive to the Wish. That way you don't miss out on any of your rotational dining dinner experiences!
Another foodie tip - don't skip the
Mercaline Market food hall. You might be familiar with Cabanas on the other ships, and Cabanas this is not! The food offerings are amazing, plus there's a convenient bar for fancy espresso beverages, craft cocktails, and more. They do require an additional charge, but it's great to be able to add a higher-end beverage to your meal without having to find it elsewhere onboard first. I was also really impressed by the food offerings at many of the bars and lounges onboard the Wish - not something I would necessarily say about some of the older ships in the fleet. I still think about the pretzel from
Keg & Compass - amazing!
Janelle, to be perfectly frank, since you've sailed on Disney Cruise Line before, there's not really anything different I'd do to prepare for this sailing. One thing I will suggest is to approach this cruise with an open mind. The other ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet were incrementally improved and changed over the years, and the Wish is a more significant evolution. Some in our crew focused on what was different on the Wish, comparing it to the older ships - I think that's a mistake. You'll have the best experience by exploring, taking it all in, and finding your own magic in all that this beautiful ship has to offer!
