Hi Shelley, Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel! I'd love to help you plan your vacation. Let's start with the basics of your trip, and then you can send me follow-up questions after that and I can help you further.
As far as your picking your Resort, if you are wanting to stick to a budget, I would recommend that you choose one of Disney's
Value Resorts. They are all fantastic, each with different themes. By staying on Property, you won't need to rent a car, since Disney's complimentary Magical Express can pick you up at the airport. Once on site, Disney's transportation can bring you anywhere that you need to go.
So much has changed since you last visited Disney World, starting with
the fact that there are 4 main Theme Parks (all of which are fantastic
for a 12 year old). Which two are you interested in visiting? Is there any way you can extend your trip to more than 2 days? I mention this because the tickets go up in increments of just a few dollars after 3 days. If you are set on 2 days, and only 1 Park per day, then you'll be buying the Base Tickets (as opposed to Park Hoppers).
You haven't mentioned when you were thinking of visiting, but if it's possible, I'd pick August 15th - October 2, 2010. During that time, Disney is offering it's popular
FREE DINING package. You must stay a minimum of 3 nights, but the majority of your food would be free for your stay. This saves a considerable amount of money.
I hope this helps you start to plan, please let me know if I can help further,
Kaylene
