Hi, I haven't been back to Disney since I was 12, I am now 35 and taking my daughter for the first time! I am a huge Typhoon Lagoon fan. We arrive 8th of May and return home the 23rd of May. Will Typhoon Lagoon be open?

    Hi Laura!

Welcome to planDisney, and welcome back to "The Most Magical Place on Earth!"  I'm sure both you and your daughter are looking forward to your upcoming visit.  Walt Disney World Resort has been where I've made some of my most cherished memories with my children, and I think you'll find the same is true for you as well.

Laura, I'm a bit ashamed to admit that it took me far too long to introduce my kids to the water parks at Walt Disney World.  We were always so busy running around the theme parks that I never seemed to find the time to squeeze them in. . .and that was a big mistake on my part!  It's clear, though, that you already recognize what a gem Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is thanks to the fond memories of your past visit.  Typhoon Lagoon is currently operating, but will close for a seasonal refurbishment beginning February 15, 2026.  We also recently learned that both Typhoon Lagoon and Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park will be open from May 26 through September 8, 2026, for the summer season.

So, what does this mean for your visit in May?  Unfortunately, I am unable to confirm the operating schedule for May just yet.  Last year, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon had one more operational flip-flop at the beginning of May before both opened for the summer, but we don't know if that will happen again this year.  The Hours & Events Calendar typically includes park hours for a 60-day window, so I would suggest checking back closer to your trip for the most up-to-date schedule.

After visiting both water parks with my 10-year-old son last year, I think you'll find that you'll enjoy a SPLASH-tacular time regardless of which water park you have the opportunity to visit during your stay!  Whether you're racing through the dips and turns of Crush 'n' Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon or lounging the day away on Cross Country Creek at Blizzard Beach, you'll find plenty to enjoy inside each park.  Plus, don't forget to take advantage of Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering available in your My Disney Experience mobile app to spend less time waiting in food lines and more time enjoying your day!

Laura, I wish I had more information to share, but I'm hopeful that this at least provides a starting point as you begin planning your vacation.  If you have more questions, please stop by to see me or any of my panelist pals again here at planDisney!

    Just keep swimming!
