how hard is it to upgrade my hotel after booked

Hiya, Darren. I am happy to meet you here at planDisney as you get ready for your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

As specials are announced, I like to check online to see if my reservation qualifies for a better rate or if I can upgrade my stay and save enough to justify the cost difference. Modifying your resort reservation is pretty easy, but how and when you can do this depends on how you booked it.

If you purchased a Disney Vacation room-and-ticket package, 30 days from check-in is a key date to remember. With these reservations, you typically pay a $200 deposit when you book the package, and the balance is due 30 days before your arrival. Before this paid-in-full date, you can cancel or modify your reservation without fees. Changes made within 30 days of checking in are subject to a $50 charge. Full details of the cancellation and change policies can be found in the terms and conditions

If you have a room-only reservation, you can cancel or modify it up to five days of arrival in 2024 or eight days for reservations in 2025 without any fees. With these reservations, you typically pay a deposit for the first night, and the balance is charged when you stay at the resort.

To modify your reservation, go to "My Plans" to find your resort reservation and you should see a "Change Reservation" box to the right of the page if this can be done online. The site will search for current availability and rates, showing you the resorts that have rooms available and the average cost per night for your stay. Follow the prompts to select your resort, room type, theme park tickets and any extras like a dining plan. Once you have the new reservation in your cart, the site will show a side-by-side of your original and new reservation to see the difference before you confirm the change.

If you have any issues modifying online, you can also call Disney Resort Hotel Reservations for assistance.

Darren, I hope this information is helpful. If you have any other questions, please come see us again at planDisney.
