So happy our family of five got a one bedroom villa at Bay Lake Tower for late March '14! We have a MK view but we may not be able to go unless we get a 30% discount. How likely is that? We are planning on cooking, no DDP. What are good ways to save $$?

    Hi Laura,

Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort is amazing! I love the sleek and modern theme, and the proximity to Magic Kingdom is wonderful.

I spoke with a cast member at Walt Disney World who said that it is possible that a discount such as the one you mention could become available. I want to caution you that since you are going to visit during a popular month, and are going to a popular resort in a popular accommodation, it is probably unlikely that a discount as high as 30% will be available. That said, do monitor the special offers at Walt Disney World page. I also like to monitor the unofficial website for information on discounts available at Walt Disney World resorts, as well as other ways to save on a Walt Disney World vacation. Be sure to check any discounts which may apply to you. There are discounts specific to AAA members, Florida residents, annual passholders, military, and so on.

I love your plan to do your cooking in your villa. My family and I eat most of our meals in our villa, and this is a huge money saver. Also, and especially if you are flying into Florida, take advantage of Walt Disney World transportation. Start with Disney's Magical Express, Disney's free transportation to and from Orlando International Airport. Also use free Disney transportation during your vacation. This will save you the money of renting a car or taking a taxi. Also, since you are staying at Bay Lake Tower, take advantage of the many activities already included in your resort.  From afternoon pool parties to activities for the whole family in the Community Hall, there is a ton to do at Bay Lake Tower without spending additional money. Spending some more time at your resort could save you money on theme park tickets.

I hope that this information helps, Laura. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
