Hiya Kristen!
Thank you for sending us your question and welcome to planDisney! Making plans during these unprecedented times can definitely be tricky, so I completely understand why you would want to prepare for a worst-case scenario.
There are two things you can do if you do decide not to go on your vacation. First, you can cancel your reservation package and will be
reimbursed varying amounts depending on when you make your cancellation. For instance, if you cancel your reservation 30 days or more prior to your arrival, you will be reimbursed the full amount minus cancellation fees, whereas you will be charged a $200.00 cancellation fee in addition to additional fees if you cancel your package between 2 to 29 days prior.
Second, you can simply postpone your trip and change the dates of your reservation and tickets. This is the option I would recommend as it is usually simpler than cancelling your current reservation. When you do change the dates of your trip, however, just remember that it will be
subject to availability and that you might need to cover price differences. It is also important to note that changes within 30 days of your visit will result in a $50.00 fee and any additional fees assessed by third-party suppliers.
It is also important to note that other experiences such as dining reservations may be subject to cancellation fees. Indeed,
restaurants typically have their own cancellation policies which include a fee that could be applied if the reservation is cancelled after the designated period. Although these policies are outlined at the time of booking your reservation, you can also reach out to a Cast Member via chat, email or phone to talk about your reservation.
Modifying or cancelling your trip can definitely be tricky, so I would highly recommend that you reach out to the
Disney Reservation Center as they will be able to help and answer all your questions. Cast Members are real-life Fairy Godparents, so I always reach out to them when I have questions! I can also tell you that Disney always makes their guests' safety a priority and that with their
enhanced sanitation practices, I have felt very safe visiting the parks during these times.
Kristen, I hope this was helpful and that you will not have to change your magical vacation. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out! We are always happy to help.
Have a magical day,
Ariane
