What happens if you make a dining reservation for a party of six but only four people show up?

    Hi Laura,

Dining at all the great restaurants with family and friends is one of my favorite Disney activities, but getting everyone to the same place at the same time can sometimes be complicated.

The consequences of having some members of your party drop out varies by restaurant. For most table-service venues, you can make the adjustment right up to the moment you check in without penalty.

It is simply a matter of courtesy to the staff and to other guests who may be waiting for space to open up to let the restaurant know as soon as possible if your party size has decreased or if you have changed your plans completely.

It is always easier to reduce your party size than to increase it.

The cancellation rules are different at the most in-demand signature dining and character experiences. Most of those, such as California Grill, Be Our Guest and Chef Mickey's, require a credit card guarantee to hold the reservation. No-shows and those who cancel within 24 hours of the reservation are charged a cancellation fee.

Other dining experiences, such as Cinderella's Royal Table, require prepayment.

When you make your advanced dining reservations at any of these venues, you will be asked to provide a credit card to hold your spot or asked to pre-pay. The specific cancellation requirements will be provided then.

If you are not asked for your credit card information, your reservation is at a restaurant with more cancellation flexibility.

I hope that is helpful and that you have a wonderful time eating at a variety of Disney restaurants. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions or make restaurant recommendations.

    Enjoy!
