What happens if you have checked in on-line at a WDW resort then unforeseen circumstances prevent you from being able to go to WDW. How far in advance does a check-in reservation need to be cancelled without charges?

    Hi Patricia!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  I am glad you stopped by with your question.  Let me try to help.

First off,  online check in does not impact any cancellation policies in place.  If you cancel your reservation, that will be documented immediately.  Also, the cancellation policy depends on what type of Walt Disney World reservation you are holding.  If you have a "room only" reservation, you can cancel without penalty 6 days or more in advance.  If you cancel within those 6 days, you will forfeit your one nights deposit.  Keep in mind that you can change or modify these reservations at any time.  So if you cancelled the night before, for example, and rebooked, you would be just fine.  If you booked a package with the Walt Disney Travel Company, there are slightly more complicated fees.  If it's a package you booked, I suggest calling (407) WDW-STAY to have your cancellation policy explained to you.  I want you to be clear in your understanding of the terms of your package.  If you are unsure which type of reservation you have, the folks at that number will be able to assist.

I wish you a truly magical vacation!
