What happens to any balance not used in an on-board account?

Ahoy there, Maureen! Welcome aboard planDisney!

Looks like you've discovered the benefits of purchasing onboard credit to use while on your Disney Cruise Line vacation! Aside from being super convenient, it's a great way to stick to a budget - or at least attempt to - while on vacation! If you happen to have additional credit built up as part of having a previous cruise canceled, that credit can become a monolith standing between you and making use of all of it.

Unfortunately, any unused portion of Onboard Credit at the end of a sailing is non-transferable and non-refundable, so I definitely suggest keeping an eye on your spending - just, in a different way than I usually do! I typically watch our onboard account to make sure I'm not spending too much, but you'll want to watch it to be sure you're spending enough!

If you can wait until you're aboard, your folio will be visible in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app as well! This is always a great way to double-check how your spending progresses through your sailing. It also can help you keep a weather eye on the charges to your stateroom made by other Guests in your party that may have charging privileges on their Key to the World card and have been strutting around like Sisu shopping for a gift in Talon saying, "Oh, it's ok - I'm using credit!"

Personally, I've never had a problem finding experiences on which to spend onboard credit during my Disney Cruise Line vacations, haha! Although it's quite possible to enjoy everything that is included on each voyage without spending a single penny for extras, there are just about as many ways to add magic to your sailing as there are magical hairs on Rapunzel's head! From treatments at Senses Spa & Salon, Adult-Exclusive Dining, and Beverage Tasting seminars, to Port Adventures, Specialty Coffees, and - who can forget - exclusive Disney Cruise Line merchandise, there's a shipload of things to spend that credit on!

I hope that gives you a few back-pocket ways to make the most of the onboard credit you'll be embarking with, Maureen as you continue counting down the days to your incredible vacation! In just a few more weeks, you'll be sailing with Captain Minnie and her crew! Thank you so much for your question, and if any others seem to come up on the horizon as you continue planning, please sail my way again here at planDisney!

    Fair winds and following seas!
