Scott from MI Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

What happened to the walk around the world bricks? We had a commemorative brick placed back in 1996 and have heard that the bricks were removed and disposed of. Please advise.

Welcome to planDisney, Scott. It's so nice that you found your way to us.

Disney's Walk Around the World Bricks were such a special offering and provided over 23 years of magic around Magic Kingdom Park. As I pointed out to a Guest with a similar question, these bricks were thought of fondly by many Guests, coaxed a smile or a tear to those walking over or by them, and allowed families to be part of the wonder and excitement of the Walt Disney World Resort. Being a part of this offering meant you were a part of the Disney Parks. And your brick is now a part of Disney history...and that can never be taken away.

These bricks were retired in 2019 but you can design and purchase a replica paver as a commemorative keepsake through the Disney Store. Furthermore, when my good friends Kaitlin and Nimmy checked a few months ago, you were still able to do this in person at the Tomorrowland Launch Depot in Magic Kingdom Park. There is also the possibility that this is available at the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs. However, since offerings are subject to change, I would recommend purchasing it through the Disney Store.

While I know that this may be a bit disappointing to hear, Walt Disney himself once said that the parks would always be in a state of becoming. Sometimes, new experiences and improvements come at the expense of losing something that (quite literally) paved the way. And not only is the future bright for the Disney Parks around the world, but nothing can take away the memory of what came before. I hope the next you visit the Walt Disney World Resort, you find the area in which your brick once lay, smile, and go on to have the most magical day at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

Thanks for being a part of Disney history and for providing joy to anyone who stopped, read your brick, and spread your magic to others.

If you have any other questions, just reach out and I'd be happy to try to help you find your happily ever after.

It will never cease to be a living blueprint of the future, where people actually live a life they can't find anywhere else in the world,
    Matt
