Hiya Christopher - welcome to
planDisney!
While operations at
Walt Disney World Resort have largely returned to what many of us would consider "normal" there are still numerous health and safety protocols in place for both Guests and Cast Members. It's important to know that these policies and protocols can change at any time in response to changing conditions, and for this reason, it's always a good idea to visit the
Know Before You Go page before, well ... you go, and to also keep an eye out for other communication from Walt Disney World Resort via email, phone, and the My Disney Experience Mobile App.
Currently, if someone in your party experiences symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19 during their vacation, they will be asked to isolate. I've not personally had this experience, though I do know that these situations are typically handled on a case-by-case basis by the Cast Members on the ground. If you are staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel, a positive COVID-19 diagnosis would likely require the impacted Guest to isolate in their room or move to and isolate in a separate room from the rest of their party. This would be facilitated by the Cast Members at the Resort, and may also impact close contacts.
As I said, these situations are handled by Cast Members as they arise, and as everyone's situation is a bit different, how they are handled may vary a bit too. From what I've heard from Guests who have had these experiences, it sounds like Disney Cast Members do everything they can to go above and beyond helping these Guests, which may include assisting with altering or rebooking impacted plans, hopefully limiting any impact on your budget. Mickey and his pals want you to stay healthy, and they also want to see you again so you can experience parts of your vacation that were impacted! Stay positive, follow Cast Member instructions, and this unlikely scenario shouldn't be too difficult to handle.
Christopher, I hope this helps set your mind at ease a bit about any upcoming vacation you might have. As I mentioned, while you can view the
formal policy on the Know Before You Go page, Cast Members will assist you and your party to minimize the impact of these situations.
I hope you visit soon - the
Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration is swirling pixie dust around the parks until March 31, 2023!
