What will happen when the bus service from the airport to Disney is no longer in service? I am coming for an event (college dance national championship) and I'm wondering if buses will be included in events like this or in our package price?

Hello, Kris, and welcome to planDisney. I see you have a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth planned for early next year. There's absolutely no better way to start off a new year than a trip to Walt Disney World and add a dance national championship on top of that - you are going to have so much fun!

Kris, as of January 1, 2022, transportation provided by Disney's Magical Express Service will no longer be offered to and from the airport to the Walt Disney World Resort. It is my understanding that unless transportation is coordinated from your organization, you will need to find your own method of transportation to and from the Orlando airport. Walt Disney World is no longer providing service for any and all packages.

There are several options to get you from the Orlando airport to Walt Disney World, Kris. I actually prefer to use a ride-share service, even now with the free option still being offered. Ride-share services are a quick, convenient and affordable way to get around. Both major ride-share companies service the area and are always comparable in price. However, I do like to check both apps before calling a car because sometimes there are discounts or coupons being offered from one company. I know that some people are not as comfortable with ride-share services and I wanted to mention that there are also always traditional taxis ready and waiting at the airport as well.

Another way to get to Walt Disney World is to hire a car service to pick you or your group up. Some of the car offerings are a Towncar, SUV, passenger van and if you want to arrive in style - even a limousine. Hiring a car can be a little bit pricey but if you get a group to go in on it together that will really cut down on the cost. A quick internet search will pull up several companies that provide this service in the Orlando area.

Something else you might want to look into is a new service called Mears Connect. Mears is actually the company that Disney's Magical Express Service contracted out to. With the Magical Express Service ending, Mears actually announced that they would be starting their own shuttle service from the Orlando airport. I think that would be something for you and your group to consider.

I hope this gives you a few ideas on how to get to Walt Disney World once you arrive in Orlando, Kris. If you have any other questions, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'm here to help. Have fun and good luck!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
