Hi Karen! Welcome back to planDisney.
You are going to have a "Totally Awesome" fall vacation at
Walt Disney World Resort. I think it is "Far Out" you have chosen my favorite resort,
Disney's Pop Century Resort. The oversized cultural icons make the perfect photo backgrounds to share with family back home and on social media. Try one of the specialty-themed
50th Anniversary Celebration Treats from
Everything POP Shopping and Dining. I would personally pick the 50th Anniversary Celebration Macaron.
After a chat with a friendly Cast Member, a call to
Disability Services, and my own personal fellow planDisney foot soldier,
Alyssa, I do have some information to help make your vacation an inclusive experience. Here are the details per Disney's Pop Century Resort itself (many thanks again, Alyssa):
Wheelchair roll-in accessible rooms:
-Stationary and Murphy beds are 21” from the top of the mattress to the floor
-6 inch clearance underneath the stationary bed
-7 inch clearance under Murphy bed
Florida special accessible rooms:
-Stationary and Murphy beds are 31” from the top of the mattress to the floor
-Bed on the platform has the ability to install a lift if medically necessary for a guest
-rails that raise/lower in the bathroom
-13 inch clearance under the bed
As a
Disney's Resorts Collection hotel guest, make sure to take advantage of the 30-minute
Early Theme Park Entry at all four theme parks. This will give you access to those coveted attractions before the parks officially open. Another bit of good news, the
Disney Skyliner, located at your resort on Hourglass Lake, is accessible friendly. Gondolas are pulled offline and you are allowed to drive your Electronic Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) or wheelchair in for a relaxing flight to select resorts or
Disney's Hollywood Studios or the International Gateway at
EPCOT.
I am sending you Pixie Dust wishes for a magical vacation this coming fall. Keep checking the
Disney Parks Blog for any announcements about upcoming events and details for the
EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival.
Keeping it Magical,
Cindy
