Welcome Home, Alfred!
Thank you for stopping by, neighbor. How wonderful that your exciting
Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just around the riverbend. I am sure you are bursting with excitement to come back to your home away from home for your stay at the Bay Lake Tower Resort. You'll be just one jump from the Magic Kingdom and all of the pixie dust that awaits you.
Alfred, I spoke with someone at Guest Services about your question, and I learned a thingamabob or two that will help you. First, the rooms at Bay Lake Tower can't accommodate your mobility scooter parked inside your room, due to safety reasons. However, there is a designated space on the floor where you can both park and charge your scooter so it is in a safe place and ready for your use each day.
I do recommend
calling ahead and putting a note on your account that you will have a mobility device (your scooter) during your stay so that they can make sure your accommodations match your need. This will ensure you are on a floor with the parking and charging station, and you can even request to have a room close by if you need it. To make this addition to your account, you would need to contact whomever you booked your room through. For example, if you used Disney Vacation Club Points, you'll want to call
Member Services, or if you booked directly through Walt Disney World Resort as a cash-paying guest,
Guest Services can help you. Alternatively, if you have booked using a Travel Agent, they would need to facilitate the request.
Alfred, if you are bringing your own scooter, you don't need to notify the Resort, other than to ensure you are on a floor where you can park and charge your scooter. If you are renting one through Walt Disney World's official scooter rental partner,
ScooterBug Rental, then they will deliver that to you at Bell Services. Either way, be sure and let them know you need to park and charge your scooter each night.
One final note is that if you are using any of the Resort's complimentary transportation, but specifically the buses, you'll want to be aboard a
courtesy shuttle which has a lift to help you get the scooter on and off the bus. Most buses will have this lift, but some do not. These shuttles only run from the Resort to the theme parks and Disney Springs. Unfortunately, they do not run Resort to Resort. But I recommend checking with the front desk to make sure you know when the courtesy shuttles run to ensure you are able to board one that can accommodate your scooter.
I hope this helps you, Alfred. If you have any additional Disney vacation planning questions, come back and see me
here at planDisney! I always love helping out one of my fellow
Disney Vacation Club neighbors, and remember, you've got a friend in me.
Have a magical time!
Keri
