Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Colleen ~
As a Mom with a son with mobility disabilities, I love to see that you are planning ahead.
The Walt Disney World Resort has done a great job of making the theme parks and other resort areas as accessible as possible by providing several types of
services for Guests with mobility disabilities. You will not need to provide any type of documentation to rent or use a wheelchair at the Walt Disney World Resort.
If you need to rent a wheelchair,
wheelchair rentals are available at all four of the theme parks as well as Disney Springs. If you need to rent a wheelchair for more than one day, you can save a little money on a length of stay rental.
Some attractions allow Guests to remain in their wheelchairs to board and other attractions require Guests to be mobile to board. The link I've provided you above will give you a list for each theme park.
Many of the transportation options including buses, monorails, and some of the larger water craft can accommodate Guests in wheelchairs. There are handicapped accessible restrooms throughout the resort. There are designated parade viewing areas as well as in the entertainment venues for Guests in wheelchairs. They usually allow one person to remain with the Guest in the wheelchair while the other members of your party can watch from nearby. Most of the queues at the Walt Disney World Resort can now accommodate Guests traveling in wheelchairs. If there are queues that require Guests in wheelchairs to enter through alternate queues, you can see a Cast Member for assistance.
I'm limited in space but please feel free to visit again with all of your questions. I am hEAR for you!
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
