What are some other Halloween/Fall themed activities at WDW in October? We have done MNSSHP, the fireworks cruise and the Haunted Carriage rides. Hoping to find something new to experience. Thank you!

Hi Tina!  The fall is one of my favorite times of the year to visit Walt Disney World. You can enjoy Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays and get a jump start on the Christmas spirit at some point during the fall months.

We actually spend several months in Fort Wilderness and bring our motor coach with our dogs. If you want some Halloween spirit and fun then Fort Wilderness is the place to be. The schedule can change from year to year but generally the day before Halloween will be a pet parade where all the "resident" pets dress up in their best Halloween costumes and parade around. The night before the 31st they will judge the site decorating contest in all of the loops. Some guests bring in trailers full of amazing decorations and set up unbelievable haunted houses. It is worth taking walks through the loops to see some of these sites. That night is also a great night to enjoy the Chip and Dale Campfire Singalong followed by a Halloween movie. This is often the time the great Headless Horseman comes riding through the area. What a thrill that is to see up close.

On Halloween night Fort Wilderness is actually the only place that has trick or treating. Guests in many of the sites will set up and hand out candy and toys to all the boys and girls who come by in costume. Before that starts come early and see the incredible golf cart parade. Some guests make their carts into pirate ships. Guests line up along the main route cheering every one on as they drive by. Usually a Disney character is also on hand to be the grand marshal.

Fort Wilderness is definitely the place to be for Halloween when on Disney property. Because of this the parking lots are closed to anyone except Fort Wilderness guests. To reach the resort you would have to take a bus in or a boat from the Magic Kingdom. Check out the Disney Parks Blog for Halloween fun!
