Hi! We're going to the Halloween party this October, and it's just my wife and I. What would you suggest that we do before getting to the party? Any cool meals or shopping opportunities in the Magic Kingdom area?

    Boo to You, Henrique!

I’m thrilled to hEAR that you and your wife have plans for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! I’ll be your human host (not your Ghost Host from Haunted Mansion) as you make all the plans for all the fun eating and shopping before and during this amazing party.

First, I want to be sure you know that you can get in Magic Kingdom Park as early as 4:00 P.M. on your Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets. This may affect your strategy on dining before arriving versus eating in the Magic Kingdom Park before the party starts!

I like to adopt a grazing approach when eating meals on days where I have tickets to special events because I know I’m going to want to TRY EVERYTHING! Be sure to leave plenty of room for all the fun foodie finds at the Halloween Party. Table service options are also available if that is your preference-especially nice if you are wearing costumes!

One suggestion I have for a unique dining experience: Cruella’s Halloween Hide-A-Way at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. Advance reservations are required and seating times start at 9:30 P.M. This event features hors d’oeuvres (cheeses and canapes) as well as Halloween flatbreads, desserts, and other savory tastings. Guests of Cruella’s will also enjoy reserved seating for Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade. I could give you 101 other details, but instead you should read my colleague Amy's experience at Cruella's Halloween Hide-A-Way.

As far as shopping, Halloween themed apparel and accessories can be found at all the resorts and parks. A broomstick ride around the Seven Seas Lagoon aboard the Walt Disney World Monorail Transportation for shopping and to take in all the Halloween decorations at each of the resorts sounds SPOOKTACULAR to me! At Magic Kingdom Park, don't miss Memento Mori, the gift shop next to Haunted Mansion, and Emporium. Other great shopping venues likely to have tons of Halloween items are World of Disney at Disney Springs and Mouse Gear at EPCOT.

Say “Hocus Pocus” and we at the Disney Parks Moms Panel will be ready to assist you quicker than the Sanderson Sisters can appear. Have a blast at Mickey's Not-So Scary Halloween Party...and beware of hitchhiking ghosts!

    Happy Haunting!
