Ahoy there Lindsey, and welcome to planDisney!
From the sounds of it, you're looking forward to an adventure celebrating
Halloween on the High Seas on the
Disney Wish next year, with your chance to head down to Deck 2 to
explore Star Wars: Cargo Bay and the intergalactic creatures that call it home. Fellow seafarers are often delighted to discover that this space is open to everyone during
scheduled Open House times on board, which I highly recommend taking advantage of in order to check out these highly-themed spaces designed specifically by Walt Disney Imagineering to withstand the rigors of the younglings who dwell within them every cruise. It is however during secured programming when our younger sailors themselves are more likely to find activities that aren't quite a "game" per se, but something that unfolds into an immersive moment of adventure; and I'm happy to lend a little extra insight without giving too much away:
- Be sure to keep an eye out on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App for a scheduled activity called Star Wars: Creature Challenge. Here, the Youth Activities Counselors will guide everyone to be creature caretakers as they scan the various crates and containers in the surrounding area with their own augmented reality-enabled tablets or "datapads" to learn more about each creature. (Though you won't be able to keep one of these datapads for yourselves, you'll likely not only learn about species like the popular porgs and loth cats, but even more diverse ones from planets beyond like worrts and dokmas.)
- As with anything related to Star Wars adventures, sometimes the most simple activities lend themselves to something going slightly awry; there may be a bit of a situation occurring on board that you'll need to work together to solve! Don't worry if you have "a bad feeling about this", as some familiar faces may also be on hand to assist, especially if you encounter any larger, and possibly dangerous interstellar species along the way.
- When the Star Wars: Creature Challenge takes place during secured programming in Disney's Oceaneer Club, photographs or video recording is not permitted. However, on one of the most recent Halloween on the High Seas voyages this month, this activity was scheduled twice: once in the morning as the ship sailed into Nassau, and again during an Open House period while the Disney Wish was still docked in Disney Castaway Cay. Aiming for any scheduled happenings while an Open House is taking place may be a great way to snap shots and even meet some rare characters in these spaces that you might not be able to otherwise elsewhere on board! (This could also be a great chance to bring along a Star Wars-inspired outfit for your spooky sailing and wear it within this stellar spot!)
Note that offerings and special surprise moments are never guaranteed and these offerings are often subject to change without prior notice on board, so I recommend popping by to speak with one of the Youth Activities Counselors or their leadership team once you're on board and confirm if and when this will be taking place during your sailing.
Here's to adventures closer to shore, and in galaxies far, far, away!
