Erin:
Our family went to Disney last year for Halloween and LOVED IT! In fact, if you asked most of my friends, they'd tell you it's one of the top 3 times of the year I recommend visiting!
I enjoyed it last year because I could actually dress up like a princess (my favorite is Snow White) and not have folks thinking I'm taking my Disney vacation too far!! But seriously, it was fun to be at Disney for a holiday--but without the guilt of leaving family (do you know the guilt I'm talking about? Like Christmas, Easter, even Independence Day? when families tend to gather and celebrate?)
Also, our family isn't the one in the neighborhood that decorates our house real "spooky," but we don't leave the porch light off either for Halloween. I really didn't know what to expect for my then 3-year-old! But I thought Disney found a happy medium in the decorations between hay bales and pumpkins and Mickey and even the villians.
Whether you're planning on going during Halloween "season" or the actual night of Halloween, the decorations will be the same. Disney also puts on a special Halloween party at the Magic Kingdom called "Mickey's-Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party" (click
here for details) complete with an extra-special parade, extended fireworks, and trick-or-treating in the park! If you want to go on the night of Halloween, you need to get your tickets to the party early before it sells out!
Most of the resorts on the actual day of Halloween sport activities. (We went trick-or-treating from campsite to campsite last year at Fort Wilderness!) If you're looking for a free activity, Disney's Downtown Disney hosts trick-or-treating on Halloween, but let me warn you: it's VERY CROWDED!
Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
