Are there Halloween events on October 31 at the resorts or parks? Realizing MNSSHP is the major event, I'm wondering if there are any other special things at other locations on the actual day of Halloween?

Hi there Teressa, it's great to have you back here at planDisney!

Let it be known that Halloween is probably one of the very best holidays of the year with all of the festivities that usually take place closer to home -  but last year my husband and I wondered what it would be like to experience the 31st of October in and around Walt Disney World Resort without necessarily having to attend the very popular final evening of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Here's a glimpse of our experiences from last year so that you can have an idea of what you'd like to do, depending on what will be offered on Halloween this time around:

    • During the day we visited Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park where they had Character appearances in special attire (we got to take photos with Mickey and Minnie dressed up as pirates), as well as a DJ playing music and a Cast Member Pumpkin decorating contest display where guests got a chance to vote on the best design among each of the participating divisions.
    • The biggest celebrations tend to take place over at the Campgrounds at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, which feature some incredibly intricate decorations courtesy of the guests who really go all out every year to deck out their sites as well as their golf carts. (Last year the majority of main events took place on the day before Halloween and due to its immense popularity, Cast Members were checking whether guests had reservations or were staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort before permitting them to board water transportation from Magic Kingdom Park.)
It's important to note that these offerings are intended for the enjoyment of guests at the Disney Resort Hotels and policies may be subject to change without prior notice with regard to whom may participate (whether those just visiting or guests actually staying at that location). We found that on Halloween and the day immediately after, the other theme parks that didn't have any Halloween-specific offerings beyond themed snacks all had relatively low waits for rides and attractions - so here's hoping you'll be able to take advantage of this during your visit!

Here's to having all kinds of Halloween fun beyond the theme parks!
