Hi Jason!
Thanks so much for visiting the Moms Panel with your question.
I'm so sorry to hear that you were not able to secure the reservation that you were hoping for.
Availability does change daily for the most coveted Walt Disney World dining locations. My best advice to you is to keep trying as often as you can as you never know what might become available!
Checking online on the
Disney Dining Reservations page is the easiest way to frequently inquire on the ever-changing availability. With your fabulous, two week stay, chances are reasonably good that you'll find an opening will come up on one of your dates!
Between 24-48 hours prior to the time you're hoping for a reservation is another good time to check. Guests who have had a change in their plans will cancel prior to reaching the 24-hour cancellation deadline so often a few spots will come up around that time. If you're staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, checking with your resort concierge each morning and evening during your stay is also a possible way to grab a reservation that has opened up.
If you wish you can try arriving at
Chef Mickey's and hope for a stand-by reservation. Your best bet for a stand-by reservation is during the earliest breakfast times (7am), mid-afternoon lunch times (3:00-4:00pm) and late dinner time (after 8pm).
I hope you'll write me back again soon if I can provide you with further assistance or recommendations.
Wishing you a simply Magical time at Walt Disney World Jason!
Kirsten
