Hi Connor, welcome to planDisney!
I'm Happy as the dwarf to help answer your question about the Disney details involved in your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. As the daughter-in-law of a retired serviceman, my family is grateful for all of the
incredible offers Disney extends to U.S. Military Members and their families. I am equally grateful for your family's service to our country and hope you enjoy your upcoming stay at
Shades of Green at Walt Disney World Resort.
Shades of Green is an Armed Forces Recreation Center located right on Walt Disney World Resort property, close to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Magic Kingdom Park. I had the pleasure of staying at this picturesque resort recently and was a big fan of the location and spacious rooms. Guests staying at Shades of Green enjoy many of the same perks as Guests staying at Disney Resorts Collection hotels such as
early theme park entry and
extended evening theme park hours. Eligibility for these perks is tied to the vacation entitlements housed in your My Disney Experience account. As such, make sure your Shades of Green resort reservation is
linked to your account. Other important vacation details linked to your My Disney Experience account include your tickets and
theme park reservations, which are currently required for theme park entry. But honing in on your question, how do all of these perks and entitlements get communicated with Disney?!
A
method of entry (MagicBand, MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile pass, or admission card) is needed to share all of the information housed in your My Disney Experience account with touchpoints and Cast Members throughout the parks, Connor. If you plan on activating Disney Military Salute Tickets at Guest Relations prior to entering your first park, you will be given admission cards. If you have a MagicBand linked to your My Disney Experience account from a previous vacation, its battery life is good for at least two years. If you plan on purchasing a new MagicBand or MagicBand+ (
available July 27), it must be
linked to your account before entering your first theme park. Many Guests choose to download
Disney MagicMobile passes directly to their mobile devices. This is can be done on the
My Disney Experience mobile app by clicking the three small lines at the bottom right corner of the home screen and clicking "Disney MagicMobile." My kids prefer admission cards, my husband likes his Disney MagicMobile pass, and I can't wait to purchase a MagicBand+. There is no wrong way to access Disney magic!
While staying at Shades of Green, you won't be able to use your MagicBand to open your room door or make charges to the room, but I consider those little deals in the grand scheme of things. You will be able to immerse yourself in a world of beauty, rich history, and star-spangled hospitality.
Plan magic; planDisney.
