Hello, Molly! Thank you for visiting planDisney with your Disney vacation planning question!
I have been visiting the
Walt Disney World Resort for over 30 years and my first visits were always spent at
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort or
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, but back then it was called Disney’s Dixie Landings Resort. Since Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside and
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter are connected by the Sassagoula River, you can enjoy a nice walk on the path to explore whichever resort you are not staying in. I highly suggest you start your morning by walking to the French Quarter with your Resort Refillable Mug to grab a fresh cup of coffee and Mickey-shaped beignet!
As a Guest at Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside or French Quarter, you can normally enjoy either pool, however, the website for Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter currently states that the Doubloon Lagoon pool will be closed through April 2024 for routine maintenance.
If you're looking for something a little more than the old-fashioned swimmin’ hole and sawmill slide at Port Orleans – Riverside, located on Ol’ Man Island with Muddy Rivers (the Gata-Melon Juice is amazing!), I suggest spending some time at
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. Summit Plummet is one of the fastest free-fall body slides in the world and the Polar Pub offers a Pina CoLAVA’s that is perfect on a hot and sunny Florida day!
I hope this answers your question, Molly. If you have any other questions about your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation, please feel free to swing by again!
