Are guests permitted to book a tent/popup site at Fort Winderness and camp in their vehicle - as in car/SUV/truck? I’ve seen them, just wondering if there’s an official answer from the Fort on this practice. Thanks!

Hey, Howdy, Hey, Tammy! Thank you so much for trusting planDisney for vacation planning advice and we're always happy to see you share your questions with us over the years! I hope we can offer some helpful tips to help you make the magic for your own family vacation.

How fun to know that you're considering booking a reservation at The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort! This is definitely an experience on my family's Disney bucket list. I'm always so impressed that there are over 750 acres of great outdoors to explore just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks! I checked with the Cast Members about your question, because I wanted to make sure the guidance we give you is most accurate. Indeed, the appropriate equipment listed for a Tent or Pop-Up Campsite is indeed a tent, a pop-up camper, or a camper van-type vehicle. So long as your vehicle does not violate the permitted types (for example, you don't bring an RV to a Tent Site), you should be able to camp in your vehicle as you wish. I know there are many after-market car camping accessories and gear to make this even more comfortable!

I have two kiddos who can't get enough time with their favorite chipmunks, so we recently visited The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort to participate in Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long. It was such a fun and unique experience that they still talk about as one of the highlights of our latest visit! The recreation opportunities are truly endless at this very special property.

I hope this is a helpful start, Tammy. If we can help with any other questions that come up on your wilderness adventure, please come back and visit us again here at planDisney. After all, "A Wilderness Explorer is a friend to all, be they plant, or fish, or tiny mole!

    Magically yours,
