Hello, Caroline! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. Your vacation to the most magical place on earth is quickly approaching. I bet you are getting so excited.
Caroline, I think you will be happy to know that there are designated
disability parking lots at each of the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks. A valid disability parking permit is required to park in those areas, which it sounds like you already have. Depending on the mobility of the person, you can even ask the Cast Member directing you where to park if you can park on the end of a row closer to the walkway up to the entrance of the theme park. The disability parking lots are very close to the entrance of each of the theme parks and the trams, when they were running, did not service these areas.
On top of your disability parking pass, you will also be required to pay standard theme park parking rates unless you are staying at one of the Disney Resort Collection Hotels or are an Annual Passholder. The standard parking rate is $25.00 per day. If you visit another Walt Disney World Theme Park on the same day, be sure to save your receipt because you only need to pay once per day.
Once you've parked your vehicle, your party will need to walk to the main entrance of the theme park. If walking is an issue once you are at the parks, you can always rent a wheelchair for the day.
Wheelchair rentals are $12.00 per day. When my daughter broke her foot a few years ago we rented one on the days she was tired of walking around in her boot and I thought they were really nice quality.
Caroline, I hope this helps you figure out your parking situation a little bit better. If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to come back and
ask me.
Have fun!
