We have a guest in our group that has Gilliam Beret Syndrome. They are unable to wear closed shoes do to nerve issues. We would like to eat at California Grill, for a birthday dinner. Will that be possible if they have to wear berkinstocks?

    Hiya, Jessica!

Walt Disney World is really a place of inclusion, so I don't want you to think for a moment that someone would be turned away from California Grill for some peeping toes. Because this is a signature dining experience, there is a dress code, but there aren't any rules at all regarding any footwear except flip flops - which are not allowed. Birkenstocks definitely meet the dress code requirements.

I know, Jessica, that people with Guillain-Barre Syndrome often have difficulty walking and standing as well. If you'll be visiting the theme parks, you may want to look into Disney's Disability Access Service. This accommodation allows a guest with a disability to pre-register for a planning session with a Walt Disney World Cast Member. This service is designed for guests who have a harder time waiting in a traditional line and can help them schedule a specific time to go to several select experiences.

But, oh, California Grill! Located in the perfect position on top of Disney's Contemporary Resort, you're in for such a lovely meal! Bringing back restaurant favorites from the past and presenting a sneak peek at the future, the prix fixe menu is just delightful. And with the amazing view of Disney Enchantment fireworks, this is the perfect place to celebrate a birthday!

I hope this turns out to be one of the most magical, memorable birthday celebrations you've ever enjoyed, Jessica!
