Hi! I have grown up visiting Walt Disney world since I was a child. I'm now 31 and and in May I will be returning with a family of my own. My little boy will turn 1 when we are on vacation. Can you suggest doing anything to make his day extra special?

    Hello, Natalie!

How exciting! You are bringing your own little prince to Walt Disney World as you celebrate his first birthday! Wonderful!

Whenever we celebrate special occasions at WDW, especially our children's birthdays, we always book a character meal and inform the restaurant that we're celebrating a special day. There are so many options from which to choose, so take a look at character dining experiences to see if any of your little man's favorites are there, including Winnie the Pooh and Pals, Mickey and Friends, June from Disney's Little Einsteins, Jake the Neverland pirate or Handy Manny. Great first birthday pictures of a wonderful celebration will surely be many!

Check out this link for tips on how to Celebrate Your Special Occasion, too, to get a better idea of what else is available. You can even have a specialty cake delivered to your restaurant of choice, even while your little one wears a Happy Birthday Ear Hat...imagine the photo op of this, too. :-)

Finally, consider a spectacular way to commemorate his special day by booking a Mini Portrait Session ($150 at the time of this writing) with one of Disney's professional photographers at Disney Fine Art Photography & Video. We just spent about an hour one morning at Disney's Polynesian Resort and had some absolutely spectacular photos taken of our multi-generation birthday celebration. Group shots and individual photos alike turned out great, and the price of the session includes a digital copy of every photo taken...well worth the price.

Send more questions as you think of them; I'd love to help you plan your perfect first birthday trip to WDW!
