Welcome back to planDisney, Wilson!
Thank you for stopping by once again with another great question. We are thrilled to continue to help you plan the perfect summer visit to the Walt Disney World Resort.
EPCOT is my favorite theme park at The Most Magical Place on Earth, and I know the seniors in your travel group will love it too! The park offers many attractions and experiences they will enjoy, including the country pavilions in the World Showcase and fantastic dining locations. My personal experience is that it seems easier to find public seating throughout EPCOT than in the other theme parks. My husband always comments on how much easier it is to find a place to sit down and relax at EPCOT, which is also his favorite theme park.
There are a lot of open spaces at EPCOT, and the park is almost twice the size of Magic Kingdom Park. Therefore, since the seniors in your group cannot walk for more than 10-15 minutes at a time and you will be visiting in July when temperatures are very high, I highly recommend renting
wheelchairs or
ECVs to accommodate them during your visit. They are available for rent at EPCOT on a first-come, first-served basis. You are also welcome to bring your own wheelchair or ECV, or rent from a third-party company.
I often travel with my 90-year-old grandmother, and due to ankle issues, she can only walk for about 15-20 minutes before needing to rest for a bit. To make things easier for everyone in our travel party, we prefer to use a wheelchair, and she always ends up enjoying our trips and outings a lot more without getting so tired and having to return to the hotel earlier than expected. I also recommend ensuring they stay hydrated because of the heat, as they usually don’t realize they are thirsty. Another great suggestion is making lunch reservations at a table-service restaurant to escape the midday sun. Some of my mother’s favorite locations are
Le Cellier Steakhouse,
Chefs de France,
Rose & Crown Dining Room, and
Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria.
I hope these tips are helpful, Wilson. Come back with more questions as you plan your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, we are delighted to help!
Best magical wishes,
Thiana
