We have a group of 26 people traveling together to WDW. We have all booked our rooms at ASMU, but we are planning to have a few meals together and would like to book some dining reservations. What is the best way to make those reservations? Thank you.

    Hi Kimberly,

Welcome to planDisney! Cue the music, you deserve some celebratory tunes as a huge congratulations for planning a trip with such a large group!

Although you can certainly try contacting a Cast Member by phone to get some assistance with making those reservations, the last time I planned a trip with a group of similar size, we did some of our own reservations as well. If you are connected with everyone via the My Family & Friends List in My Disney Experience, you could try making separate reservations for everyone. To do so, I suggest that you divide the group into smaller groups of no more than six and then select a different person to be the lead on each reservation. Then just try to make those reservations within 20 minutes of each other.

When planning for a large group, I've had luck with the following restaurants - Cape May Cafe and Trails End Restaurant. You might also try Whispering Canyon Cafe, The Crystal Palace, and Chef Mickey's. I will say that Cape May Cafe, The Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, and Whispering Canyon Cafe are probably easier to reach than Trail's End Restaurant. With one group, we had quite the adventure trying to get to Trail's End Restaurant but when got there, dinner was so much fun! I was also quite impressed with how the chef handled the meals for the two vegans in our group.

With a group of 27 a few years ago, we did one meal together and then let everyone dine on their own for other meals. Most folks split up into smaller groups. I would also suggest that you make sure everyone has downloaded the My Disney Experience Mobile App because you can do Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering. Just be sure that folks check the arrival time windows before they place their orders so that they get their food at about the same time. Finally, consider some of the fabulous dining options at Disney Springs. You may actually be able to call and reach someone at the restaurant to get assistance with your large party.

Kimberly, mark that advanced dining reservation date on your calendar when your dining reservation window will open. I am online at 5:45 a.m. on the day our reservation window opens. Just be patient. Availability may not open until 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. (for select experiences). Sending pixie dust your way trusting that you will find some dining reservation magic!

    Magic and memories,
    Donyell
