Our group of 17 people will be driving into Disney on 9/9/12, hopefully early a.m. for check in. We were thinking about going to the water park...good idea, or any other suggestions? Trying to figure out the best way to manage the 1/2 day.

    Hi Rebecca,

If you think your large travel party will have the energy to tackle Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach on your day of arrival after that long trek from New Jersey, then go for it!  The Disney Water Parks are incredible fun!

If you're looking for plans that require less energy on that first day, consider exploring the amenities at your home resort upon your arrival.  Take a swim and lounge by the resort pools.  Then, once your room is ready, you can take a nap or change and head out to Downtown Disney for an evening of shopping.  Having a character dining experience the first night is another great way to kick off an exciting Disney vacation.  Consider calling (407) WDW-DINE to make reservations for your large group to dine at Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare. Be sure to call 180 days in advance of your visit so that you can make arrangements for your large party.  Then you could all enjoy watching the fireworks above Cinderella Castle from the beach at Disney's Polynesian Resort.  The view of the fireworks from this resort is pure magic!

Wishing you and your group a vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust, Rebecca!  Let us know if you need any additional advice.
