Hi, Abby! Thanks for visiting planDisney. I would be happy to help plan your vacation!
It sounds like you are getting a head start researching for next year's trip. While
Genie+ can initially seem a little tricky, the Walt Disney World website provides some great
video tutorials that I recommend watching. You'll be a pro in no time! Also, download the latest version of the
My Disney Experience app, and be sure your park tickets are linked to your account.
When you visit Walt Disney World Resort, you have the option of using MagicBands during your trip, and they do make things a little easier. However, there are other methods that I'll discuss below. One way to gain access to the
Lightning Lane queues is to scan your MagicBand, which will have your selected Genie+ attractions linked to it. Each guest in your party will need to tap the touch points individually- you won't be able to do it for them.
Those in your traveling party who do not wish to purchase a MagicBand can use
Disney MagicMobile. This service allows you to make and customize a digital pass via the My Disney Experience app, which is then added to the Wallet app on your phone. Simply hold your phone up to the touch points just as you would with a MagicBand. It works like magic, and you don't even have to wave a wand and say, "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!" Another alternative is to pick up plastic admission cards at the Will Call window at the parks and use these to scan in at the theme park and attraction entrances.
Abby, since you hail from Indiana, I'm sure you are familiar with Gwendolyn Rogers and
The Cake Bake Shop; my friend
Doug is a big fan! Did you know that a "Disneyfied" version is expected to open at Disney's BoardWalk at Walt Disney World in 2023? Hopefully, it will be ready by the time of your trip! Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for details coming soon.
Have a magical time!
