If our group links our tickets and we purchase genie+, do we need to stay together or can we split up and choose different rides? Does each individual have to scan and redeem when they go on the ride?

Hiya, Lenora! Thanks so much for sending us your question. We love helping our fellow Guests plan their visits to the Happiest Place on Earth!

The Genie has lots of wishes to grant as part of the new Disney Genie Service! When you upgrade to Genie +, you'll gain access to Lightning Lanes on many attractions throughout Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. I just used Genie + myself this weekend with a few friends and it was a seamless magic carpet ride through the parks! It's a great idea to link your tickets so that making Lightning Lane selections can be done a bit more easily and can guarantee that you will all get the same return window for attractions you would like to ride together. However, not everyone's Disneyland day looks the same and you can absolutely make individual selections or select just a few people at once from your linked friends for any particular attraction. So ... your wish has been granted! When you open the Disneyland Mobile App and click on the "+" on the bottom navigation bar, you will see the option to "View My Genie Day and Tip Board". The Tip Board is where you can pull up the list of attraction wait times and also book your Lightning Lanes. When you select an attraction that offers a Lightning Lane, on the next page it will ask you to select the Guests to include in this selection and will list all the valid tickets linked to your account for that day. Make your selection, confirm, and Poof! That Lightning Lane is yours!

When it comes to redeeming the Lightning Lane, individuals can scan and redeem themselves or one person can scan and redeem for the group if everyone is linked together. If for some reason you are nearing the end of your window and you are unable to make it to the attraction, you'll want to go ahead and cancel your Lightning Lane reservation. If you just let the time pass, you won't be able to make another Lightning Lane for that attraction later in the day. You can cancel it even if your window has started.

One of the best perks of Genie+ is the access to unlimited downloads of all the Disney PhotoPass photos taken that day. For me, remembering the memories is just as good as making them and these photos will allow you to bring home some of that magic! There are PhotoPass photographers located throughout the parks and they are more than happy to indulge in several poses and even some "Magic Shots". If you're unfamiliar with Magic Shots, just trust me on this one! You'll be in for a fun surprise!

Lenora, I know the Genie will show you a "whole new world" when you come to visit. Be sure to take advantage of his live suggestions as you move through the parks - he might lead to some unexpected magic or something that's new to you! If you have any more questions, we are always here for you at planDisney

    Keep wishing on those stars,
