Hi. Our group has grown to a party of 6 and we are staying at FtW for the 1st time this coming March. (SO EXCITED!!!) Do you happen to know which bus stop is first to be picked up? We like arriving to the parks 45 mins before opening. Thank you so much!!!

Hi Julie! Fort Wilderness Resort is a great choice for something just a little bit different when staying at Walt Disney World. You have the option of the newly refurbished cabins that sleep up to six guests or you can book an RV or tent site. No matter how you will be staying at the resort you are sure to enjoy every bit of it.

Let me explain the internal bus system in this resort. It is necessary to use the buses due to the size of the property. If your budget can handle renting a golf cart for your stay this is a fun way to get around and obviously will be quicker then waiting on buses since you can come and go at your will. The cabin loops share three different bus stops. There is only a mere minute between each one so it will not matter which stop your loop is closest to. They will stop at each going both directions. Many guests don't want to walk through their long loops so request to be at loop ends but be prepared to hear the bus noises into the late hours of the night. When gauging your time to get to a resort early give yourself about 20 minutes when using the internal system to reach the main bus outpost at the front of the resort. You do have the option to walk on the sidewalks to reach the front from all cabin loops but from some this is a bit of a hike.

The internal system also has RV loop stops but there are different routes so you never stop at each loop. It is a very efficient system allowing all of the guests of Fort Wilderness ease at getting around.

Please remember that buses running to the parks will operate about an hour before park opening and the Magic Kingdom will only have boat transportation from Fort Wilderness. This boat will begin operation only 30 minutes before opening. You can take the Contemporary boat and walk to the park from there. This begins at 6:45am each morning.
