Michael from ON Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Group of 8 ( 2 fams of 4) Should we link MDE’s to select LL’s with Genie+ & can we select partial members if someone doesn’t want to do a ride? I feel like 2 MDE groups will make it hard to get the same return times on popular rides especially at 7 am.

    Hi Michael!

Welcome to planDisney!  Visiting Walt Disney World Resort with friends and family makes for the best vacation memories. Let’s take a look at how to best organize plans for your group!

Michael, it sounds like you’ve already done your homework and are familiar with some of the ins and outs of the My Disney Experience Mobile App and Disney Genie+ service.  Through the app, you can connect your entire travel party from both families on the Family & Friends list.  This will allow you to keep track of plans and make Lightning Lane entry selections together.

I would recommend each family have the My Disney Experience Mobile App on their devices.  Since you can only use one payment method per transaction, it may be easiest for each group to purchase Disney Genie+ service for their family members anytime after midnight each day.  Then, since you all want to be able to have the same return times for Lightning Lane entrances, one person can reserve all of the Lightning Lane times during the day.  Just make sure everyone in the larger group is linked on the Family & Friends list and you should be good to go!  When you are making Lightning Lane selections, you can select which members from your travel party to add so everyone doesn't always have to make the same selections.  This means some of your group could choose to fly to a galaxy far, far away on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, while others enjoy spinning around Andy's backyard on Alien Swirling Saucers.

Michael, since you are traveling with a larger group I also wanted to point out the benefit of purchasing Memory Maker.  One family can purchase this service through Disney PhotoPass which will allow you to receive digital downloads of ride, attraction, and park photos throughout your entire vacation.  The service can be shared by other members of your Family & Friends list so there is no need for both families to purchase.  It's a great way to capture all of those precious vacation memories and bring home the magic!  Don't forget to ask about any Magic Shots that may be available - you never know which Disney characters may appear in your photos!

I'm sending pixie-dusted wishes that you enjoy a wonderful vacation to the Most Magical Place on Earth!  Please stop by planDisney again to see me or any of my panelist pals with future Disney vacation planning questions you may have - we're all ears!

    See ya real soon,
