We have a group of 22 coming in December. We will not be staying at any of the Disney lodges. We will be staying at a resort about 10 miles away. What tips/advice do you have for us since most of what we see includes Disney lodging?

I've stayed in both Disney resorts and off property, Stephanie, so hopefully I can offer some helpful hints.  First of all, I'd recommend that you rent a vehicle.  In my experience, the transportation provided by non-Disney resorts is lacking.  Secondly, I'd recommend not returning to your resort mid-day for a break because the travel time to get back and forth will be too great.  Instead, opt for a leisurely sit-down meal and follow it up with a couple of shows or lengthy attractions such as The Great Movie Ride or Ellen's Energy Adventure.  When you leave your resort each morning, make sure you have everything you'll need for the entire day (camera, sunscreen, light jackets) so that you don't have to make unnecessary trips back and forth.  Lastly, enjoy your trip; it's going to be great!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
