Hi, there!
Welcome to planDisney, Shelby. I'm so happy you stopped by and even happier to see you'll be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort next week! A Disney vacation is always magical, but exceptionally so during the
holiday season.
Traveling with a big family is sure to be BIG fun. That said, it can certainly make the planning process a bit more difficult! Dining reservations can be challenging to book over the holidays for any party size, but that's especially true for large parties. Not to fret! I have a few tips that might be helpful.
First, I recommend checking the
online dining reservation system several times a day. In my experience, persistence and patience have been the key to booking a hard-to-get dining reservation! Cancellations often create new availability. You never know when someone's canceled plans may mean new plans for your party!
I also suggest trying to split your party into two smaller groups and booking two dining reservations for the same time. I once was in charge of booking dining reservations for my extended family of 14. There were a few instances in which I split our group into two parties and booked two reservations at the same restaurant. When it was time to check in, I let the Cast Member at the host stand know that we were actually one group together. They made sure we were seated either together or at nearby tables!
If all else fails, check for same-day availability at a restaurant you're hoping to visit. Stop by the host stand as early in the day as possible to inquire about a walk-up opportunity. Select dining locations offer
Mobile Dine Walk-Up Availability. This convenient option on the
My Disney Experience mobile app allows you to add your party to the walk-up list without having to visit the host stand!
Did you know that there are well over 100
Quick-Service dining locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort? Reservations aren't needed to enjoy a delicious meal at one of these unique restaurants. You're sure to eat lots of incredible food during your stay, with or without a dining reservation!
I hope this was helpful, Shelby. I'm wishing you a magical (and merry) Disney vacation!
Ashley
