Hello we are a group of 8 with boys 5 & 7. Staying offsite is the plan for now. However, my question is.. would it be worth booking a room onsite Disney for 1-2 nights in order to purchase a Dining Plan and give a place to rest mid day, if necessary.

    Hey Tamy-

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am glad you are here. Last summer my extended family of 10 made the pilgrimage “home” for a week long stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. We purchased a Disney Dining Plan allowing us one table service entitlement, one counter service entitlement and one snack entitlement per day. This was plenty of food. My wife and I love to let Disney do the cooking and cleaning. This perk is some of the best pixie-dust sprinkled during our trip. The Disney Dining Plan is only available to Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel for the length of stay at the hotel. So if you are staying off site for three days and on property for two days, you will only be eligible for two days of your trip.

I would suggest you stay at one hotel whether you decide on a Walt Disney World Resort hotel or another property for your entire trip. It is very time consuming to change resorts during a stay. Packing and unpacking, managing transportation to the new resort and finally getting back to the airport. This is easier if you rent your own car but you still lose valuable vacation time in the transfer process.

If you chose a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you will have access to special benefits. The benefits of Extra Magic Hours, Disney Dining Plan, Disney Transportation, charging purchases on your MagicBands, themed rooms and swimming pools, the ability to make FastPass+ reservations 60 days in advance for your entire stay and the use of Disney’s Magical Express are a dream come true. We embrace this magic making our vacations so easy.

In the end, no matter what you do, you will have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious time. Your trip will be filled with smiles, fun and wishes fulfilled.

I hope this helps you plan a wonderful vacation.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories!
