We have a group of 30 arriving next June for my grandfather's 80th. We'd like to do a special character meal to celebrate! His favorite is the Crystal Palace. Will they accommodate that many? Any other suggestions? Not all will have the Dining Plan.

    Hi Jessica,

Wow!  Thirty people traveling to Walt Disney World to celebrate an 80th birthday?  That sounds amazing!  Please wish your grandfather the happiest birthday ever from the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

I know that Disney restaurants will accommodate big groups.  How do I know that?  Well, the Moms Panel just had a reunion last month and we had reservations for more than 60 people at several restaurants.  The key is to call (407) WDW-DINE for dining reservations in the morning EXACTLY 180 days in advance of your vacation.  That's when reservations first open for your travel period so if you call that morning it affords the Cast Members who make reservations the most flexibility.  Be sure to let them know you'll be celebrating your grandfather's big day when you make your reservations.  You needn't worry that not everyone in your party will have the dining plan.  That shouldn't be a problem.  I hope the Crystal Palace is available.  If not, you might want to consider Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort or 'Ohana at Disney's Polynesian Resort.  Both are a short monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom.

Have fun planning your exciting family celebration!  Let us know if there's anything more we can do to help.

    Sending pixie dust your way,
    Jill
