Hi Greg! My family and I enjoyed a weekend at Epcot’s Flower & Garden festival and I noticed new play areas for the kids at various points near the entrance to world showcase. Is this a permanent thing or only temporary? They are great! Thanks!

Hi Natalia! Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by with your question!

I'm so happy that you and your family had a great time visiting the Walt Disney World Resort this past weekend! EPCOT is such a fun park to visit, especially when there is a Festival taking place! The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is one of my favorites! I hope you had a chance to try some of the festival food and drinks located at the outdoor kitchens set up all around the World Showcase. There are also the beautiful topiaries of your favorite Disney characters to look out for throughout the park.

With all the changes happening at EPCOT recently, it's wonderful to see some new play areas pop up for children to enjoy. Although these are not permanent fixtures to the park, you will find them more often than not in a similar location near the World Showcase. They typically are themed differently depending on the festival taking place or what time of year it is. There are times when these spaces are closed and are not available to Guests, so I would caution your expectations during your next visit. When they are available, my wife and I find them to be very useful when we are trying to taste new foods at the festival booths. Usually, we'll grab some items to try and then head over to the play area for our little ones to run around while we enjoy our food.

If you're looking for more fun options for your kids, I suggest checking to see if there are any seasonal scavenger hunts taking place at the park. Spike the Bee’s Pollen-Nation Exploration scavenger hunt is currently ongoing for the Flower & Garden Festival and is a great way to keep your children entertained while you are exploring the countries in the World Showcase. You can purchase an exploration card at select stores in the park and then you are on a mission to find all the places Spike the Bee is hiding. Once completed, head back to the store to collect a small prize. There are different options throughout the year and usually a fun Olaf-themed one for the winter holiday!

Natalia, I hope you get a chance to visit the Walt Disney World Resort again soon! With so many new experiences coming to the parks and resorts, you will always have something new and exciting to look forward to!

We hope to see ya real soon!
