Bright suns, Andi, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
Your journey to Batuu is almost here, and I can’t wait for you to experience a galaxy far, far away. I’m so excited to hEAR that you’re planning to build a custom astromech droid unit at
Droid Depot, and a custom lightsaber at
Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers! I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing both of these out-of-this-world activities, and they are truly magical!
To help give you an idea of timing for each event, I’d estimate that the droid-building process takes about 15-20 minutes from start to finish. If you're looking to save time, you may want to think about which type of unit you'd like to make ahead of time (a BB-series or R-series) and what colors you'd like, too. My son especially enjoyed using the electronic screwdriver to assemble his droid – it was so cool! As for building a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop, I would also estimate this experience takes about 15-20 minutes, though you’ll also want to be sure to check-in for the experience no earlier than 15 minutes prior to your reservation time. Get ready for these epic experiences, Andi – I had tears in my eyes while watching my son’s lightsaber activate for the first time!
After completing your droid and lightsaber builds, I recommend cooling off with a refreshing drink at the local watering hole,
Oga’s Cantina at the Disneyland Resort. The
Yub Nub is my drink of choice, while my son can’t get enough of the Blue Bantha! Even if you aren’t able to make a reservation in time, you can also add your party to the
mobile walk-up list, subject to availability.
Before you embark on your journey to Batuu, I suggest downloading the
Play Disney Parks app to help you live your very own
Star Wars story. Use it to interact with droids or scan crates in the queue for
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Talk about a fun way to wait in line!
I hope these estimates will help you as you plan your explorations of Black Spire Outpost, Andi! Please stop by with any last-minute questions you may have… we’re all EARs!
See ya’ real soon!
