Hi Nicole!
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside are two of my very favorite resorts. To me when I enter these Resort Hotels, they feel so warm and welcoming. The atmosphere reminds me of being in the south and I have found the Cast Members to be very friendly and kind.
When we travel to the Walt Disney World Resort we typically travel with my in-laws. They stay in a separate room and we always request that we have adjoining/connecting rooms. It has been my experience that whether you complete the Online Check-In process or wait until you arrive to your Resort hotel, there are no guarantees for requests on connecting or adjoining rooms. When you make a request, the possibility of that request is based on availability at the time of your check in and stay.
Whenever I have requested a connecting/adjoining room, I always call the reservation line and have a Cast Member make a note on my reservation of that request. I also give the Cast Member the other party’s reservation number so that the two reservations can be linked.
Once I arrive to the resort whether or not I have checked in online, I ask the Cast Member that is helping me if they were able to give us a connecting room. If the answer is no, I do ask if they could check to see if any are available. There have been times that they were not able to accommodate my request but they did put forth their best effort in trying to accommodate us. If they were not able to give us connecting rooms, we often have been placed very close to each other and sometimes even next door to each other.
I hope that you will be able to be “connected” to the other party you are traveling with! Have a magical time!
