Greetings! Do I need a doctor's note to use my own walker and/ or to rent either a walker, wheelchair or ECV from you? Could you also give me the price for renting these items? Thanks in advance : )

Hi there, Bridget, and welcome to planDisney! I couldn't be happier that you've stopped by with this awesome question about your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation! You'll be arriving in just a few short days, and you must be getting so excited!

Bridget, you'll be happy to know that you do not need a note from a medical provider to use or rent a walker, wheelchair, or ECV at Walt Disney World Resort. Happily, you have a few options when it comes to rentals, and this can be done either before you arrive at the Disney Theme Parks or after you enter. Pricing is subject to change, but is easily found by calling or visiting the websites for the options I will detail below.

First, you'll want to think about where you're staying and how you'll get from your room to the Disney Theme Parks. Many Resorts are large and require a good bit of walking. If you'd like to have a wheelchair or ECV at your Resort and during the transportation process, you might consider renting one from a third-party vendor like ScooterBug. You do not need to be present for the rental delivery, so you could have it scheduled to be at your Resort before you arrive.

You should definitely also check out the Care Concierge services provided by AdventHealth, which is the official healthcare provider of Walt Disney World Resort. With medical equipment delivery services, urgent care options, prescription delivery, and more, you're in good hands!

If you find that you don't need mobility assistance until you enter the Disney Theme Parks, either wheelchair rental or ECV rental might be a great option. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the rental area is conveniently located just inside the entrance of each park. When you leave the park, you'll return your rental. If you're headed to another park, just present your receipt to continue your rental there at no additional charge. Currently, ECV rentals are $65 per day and wheelchair rentals are $12 per day.

Bridget, I hope you find that Walt Disney World Resort is more accessible than ever! Please check out this helpful website to learn more about services that are available for Guests with mobility needs. And don't hesitate to ask a friendly Cast Member if you ever need help or clarification about how to use your mobility device.

I hope this is helpful to you as you plan your visit. Please stop by planDisney with any other questions you have!

    See ya real soon!
