Greetings, I am a DAV and was wanting to know about the process of obtaining DAS? Are there any restrictions to it? Thank you.

Hi Jantasia, and welcome to planDisney!

As the wife of a veteran, I’d like to thank you for your sacrifice and service. I love that we Floridians have Walt Disney World Resort right in our “backyard.” My family frequents the theme parks because it’s a fun getaway from the real world. When one of my family members who has trouble standing in the queues for an extended period of time tags along, we are grateful that they can use the Disability Access Service (DAS). Let’s get into how you can look into using this service, too.

First things first: The Disability Access Service is for Guests who can’t wait in an attraction’s standby queue because they have trouble standing for a long time. According to the Walt Disney World Resort website, "a Guest whose disability is based on the necessity to use a wheelchair or scooter does not need DAS. Depending on the experience, Guests utilizing a wheelchair or scooter will either wait in the standard queue or receive a return time at the attraction that is comparable to the current standby wait." So, if your disability falls into that category, you’ll want to send a message to disability.services@disneyparks.com or call Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities instead of looking into DAS registration.

Now, if you feel like you qualify for DAS, you’ll be happy to know that you can pre-register for it online. You can do the pre-registration option up to 30 days before your expected arrival. The second option is to visit Guest Services upon arrival. Guest Services is near the front entrances of all four theme parks. In both cases, you’ll speak to a Cast Member about why you believe you qualify and they will determine your DAS eligibility. If you qualify, the Cast Member will set up your first Lightning Lane (the queue that’s usually quicker) for the day. The best part? DAS’s Lightning Lane access would be for you and up to 5 other Guests in your party.

Jantasia, I hope that you have the Most Magical vacation. You’ll be visiting just in time for the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. It’s the theme park at its most beautiful, and you won’t forget the butterfly garden and topiaries any time soon. As you plan the rest of your adventure, feel free to ask us questions here at planDisney. I’m all ears!

    Magic always,
