Great tips I am totally addicted. I have been to Disney 2 times last year and stayed at the POR due to a family of 5 we are on a limited budget but would like to know would paying the extra money worth staying to upgrade to another resort. Thanks

Hi, Christina! I totally get your addiction...I even read the Moms Panel questions and answers for my own planning purposes! The Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter Resorts are my favorite moderate resorts at WDW. They are close to Downtown Disney and offer great dining and recreation choices. They are also a little easier on the budget than the deluxe accommodations.

With that said, I would recommend trying something new since you are quite familiar already with POR. If you would like to stay in the same price range, I would recommend Coronado Springs Resort or the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. CSR is going to be comparable to POR/POFQ, but without the convenience of the waterway system that easily connects you to Downtown Disney.

If you've never experienced Fort Wilderness, it's a vacation in and of itself! It offers fantastic (and unique) recreation and dining choices -- hay rides, Chip n' Dale campfire sing-a-longs, Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, horseback riding etc. Plus, the resort is only a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom! The Cabins are also great for a budget by having a small kitchen and an outside deck complete with a grill. Just remember that you may need to rent a golf cart or some bikes to conveniently get around the expansive resort to the various places of interest.

For deluxe accommodations, you can certainly shop around for deals with AAA, travel agencies and online. For our family, we enjoy the comfort, convenience and various dining/entertainment choices of staying closer to the parks which is offered by the deluxe resorts such as the Contemporary, the Polynesian, the Grand Floridian, the Wilderness Lodge and the Yacht and Beach Clubs. Therefore, if we can find a good rate at a deluxe resort, our choice is to sacrifice somewhere else in the vacation budget in order to be closer to the parks.

I sure hope this has helped you with your planning! Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
